Hi, my name is Brian. I’m the creator and owner of Simply the Best Custom Furniture and Upholstery. “Simply the Best” was established in 2022 when my wife and I moved to Greenville, SC from Wilmington, NC, to be closer to family. Before moving, I worked at an upholstery shop that has been serving Wilmington since 1972. When we arrived to Greenville, my wife encouraged me to open own my own shop. A truly scary thought, but I did it!

Although Simply the Best was established in 2022, it really started years ago. I’ve always had a keen eye (sometimes too keen) for detail and always had a passion for woodworking and building furniture.

I’m originally from Ohio and attended Morehead State University and University of Kentucky where I earned my Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Animal Science. After earning my Master’s, I was a swine researcher for 2 years. I knew it wasn’t what I wanted out of my career.

In 2021 I happened upon a sign that read, “Upholstery Tech Needed” and discovered the craft I fell in love with. I called the number posted and started the same day.

When I look back on my first project (a small brown ottoman) I now laugh because I didn’t know what I was doing, but I did know one thing… I loved reupholstering!

So, what “keeps” me loving it? Here is what I know I’m loving these days: the nervousness before delivering newly reupholstered furniture, the joy on a client’s face when they see the “art” I’ve created, or their beloved family heirloom brought back to life. This is what keeps me going.
